Lottes Park Boat Launch

The City of Monona operates a public boat launch on the shore of Lake Monona. The existing launch was heavily used; however there was no established parking lot which resulted in a random parking pattern and a significant shortage of available parking. In addition to providing adequate parking, the City wanted to incorporate other amenities to the site. The project consisted of the construction of a 32-stall boat trailer parking lot, a concession/ restroom facility, pedestrian accommodations/riverwalk, new concrete 2 – stall boat launch, boat and fishing piers, kayak landing, dredging, site lighting, signage, landscaping, and stormwater management. Other amenities included an invasive species wash station, a fish cleaning station, and automated fee station.

Vierbicher completed the design of the site improvements, bidding and contract administration, and construction observation on the project. Vierbicher worked with regulatory agencies including the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on the stormwater, dredging, boat launch, pier, and wetland permitting. Vierbicher also assisted the City with acquiring a Recreations Boating Facilities (RBF) grant to provide funding for the project.
